Student life dominates the neighborhood from September to early June (want parking?).

Lake Michigan
The lake is 20 minutes walk from our home. Promontory Point is a beautiful landscape in most seasons and popular for outdoor fires in the warmer months. Locals have created the custom of free-swimming long distances off the south side of the Point.
57th Street Beach is just as close if you want a supervised beach where you can paddle, but not swim.
At Pebble Beach at 49th Street, you can walk out to the limestone bedrock that is 90 feet underground in downtown Chicago.
