About Us

Sophia Community is an intentional community living in a lovely big house in Hyde Park, near the University of Chicago. Founded by 4 young women in 1993, we have developed a culture tested over time, able to support both single people and families. Our community lives "family-style", sharing the highs and lows of our lives in presence to each other. Our landlords are the Quakers, who use the house for their meetings. We manage a small guest business on their behalf.
