An urban intentional community
in Chicago
Looking for more connection and shared values?
Founded by 4 young women in 1993, we have developed a culture tested over time, able to support both single people and families. Our community lives "family-style", sharing the highs and lows of our lives in presence to each other.
Our home
We live in one big house in Hyde Park, on the edge of the University of Chicago. We rent from the 57th Street Meeting of Friends (Quakers), our landlords.
Diverse
Our members ages span several generations, and a variety of genders. We have come from Turkey, Ireland, Australia and Korea. We have worked as teachers, social workers, medicos, servers, writers, doctors, chaplains, students, nonprofit staff, photographers, actors, youth workers, IT managers.
Room Rentals
We rent rooms for overnight guests and spaces for events. Find out more (link to Rentals page)
Openings
